From the Access Control Committee

Nov 22, 2024

Here are some suggestions to help make your Holiday Season a positive one:

  • The Holiday Season is here. It gets dark sooner; people can easily walk by vehicles and check door handles to see if the doors are locked. Leave nothing in vehicles of value. Make sure Vehicles and homes are locked securely. Know your surroundings at all times. Avoid dark, solitary places.
  • The Holiday Season is also a time for COURTESY. There have been two incidents in the last month between a golf cart and a runner in the road on one occasion and two golfcarts and two women walking on the natural area cart paths in the second incident. In both incidents there were discourteous comments made by the golf cart drivers to the others involved and perceived danger due to swerving toward the runner and the women. Golf cart drivers should be aware they are accountable for the same rules as any other motorized vehicle in Deercreek and that the roads and natural area cart paths are to be used by all. Most of all, COURTESY and SAFETY are to be practiced.
  • There will be additional vehicle traffic during this time, so be watchful for that as well as increased children and young people who are out of school.
  • There will be additional JSO patrols during this time.
  • If gifts are ordered for delivery, do not use the early bird option as DELIVERIES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FROM 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. If gifts are needed to be delivered during these non-access times for Deercreek, there is an Amazon drop box at the Avenues Mall that can be used.
  • If no one will be at home when packages are being delivered, ask someone to watch for them and secure them on your behalf.
  • Avoid motorized gifts for especially younger children and youth. They are not only dangerous on the Deercreek roads and should not be driven there, but they are illegal by state law if operated by a person without a valid drivers’ license.
  • Make sure all guest names are in the gate system at least 24 hours before arrival. Remember the gate app for the gate system is available for cell phones. Stop by the guard house between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday to get the app installed.
  • If walking or jogging on the Deercreek roads, which is dangerous due to the lack of road width, wear light colored clothing, walk or run facing traffic and do not use earbuds. Walking in the roads is dangerous enough, but earbuds block a person’s ability to hear vehicles approaching especially from the rear.
  • If you see anything unusual or out of the ordinary, please contact the guard gate at 904-566-9163 or call JSO at 911.
