There will be many social gatherings in the coming weeks and months, and the best way to expedite getting guests authorized to enter Deercreek is to list them in the gate access system. When using your computer/phone/Ipad to authorize entry for guests or vendors via the Gate Access system, please be sure to enter a date in the “End Date” field for those you authorize. If no end date is entered, the vendors and guests you authorize will have indefinite access to Deercreek.
In addition to adding an end date for each future vendor or guest, also review your current on-line guest list to ensure that no guests or vendors are missing an end date in their visitor record.
All of us have a responsibility to ensure the security of our community. We have had several incidents where residents blamed our security personnel for allowing access to an unauthorized vendor or guest, only to find out that the resident had authorized that guest at an earlier date, but included no end date for that visitor. Per policy, our security personnel treated these visitors as authorized guests.
Other reminders, school is now out for the summer. Please be watchful for children on bicycles and golf carts. About golf carts, they are required to follow the same rules as any other motorized vehicle in Deercreek, including licensed drivers.
Residents continue to be cited for yard trash and trash can violations. Please review the rules section of the Deercreek website to be clear about what is and is not allowed.
Walking, Running and biking in Deercreek Roads
Once cars reach a certain speed (just above 20 mph), they rapidly become more deadly. According to [AAA’s Brian] Tefft’s data, a person is about 70 percent more likely to be killed if they’re struck by a vehicle traveling at 30 mph versus 25 mph”.
In collisions at 30 miles per hour, about one in five pedestrians will not survive. For older pedestrians, the odds are significantly worse.
Please keep to the speed limit, and keep the community safe!
