As the year is ending I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the members of Common Property to thank you for your cooperation and assistance and to highlight some of the activities and projects in which our committe has been involved.
LANDSCAPING:
- The area above the fountains were renovated by the the addition of Philodendrons and Jack Frost Ligustrums
- The appearance of our entrance both inbound and outbound was improved by grading, and the planting of hedges using more than 500 Podocarpus, addition of Philodendrons, Foxtail ferns, Blue Daze, and others.
TREE TRIMMING:
- A semiannual program has been instituted in order to be proactive in the health and maintenance of our trees. Emergency service is provided by our vendor in the event of fallen trees.
FOUNTAIN AND IRRIGATION SERVICE AND REPAIR:
- Both our fountains and our irrigation system are periodically in need of repair. This year we found it necessary to change vendors for our fountains.
PONDS:
- Our lakes, being more than 30 years old, have been a challenge this year with the summer heat and lack of rain. It is the perfect combination for algae growth. However there are two projects underway to mitigate the problems. First, we expect by mid January to have ponds 13 and 14 (the pond near the 18th green and the one adjacent to the 10th tee box) to have an aeration system. In addition, it is anticipated by early Spring to have the addition of Carp in the majority of our ponds. These two programs should ameliorate the condition of our ponds.
PRESSURE WASHING:
- Common Property now has a semiannual program to clean all structures such as mailboxes, benches, sidewalks, playground pavilion, guardhouse, etc.
MINI PARK:
- You probably have noticed the area on Deercreek Club Rd, near the pool and the JEA station. This has been an unsightly area for years. But with the cooperation of Heritage Golf, and the Home & Garden Club, this will soon be changed. The area has already been cleared and we are currently working with a landscape designer for this property. The goal is to make this area into a scenic area, one that will enhance our already beautiful community. It is anticipated that planting will begin in early Spring.
HOLIDAY DECORATIONS:
- This year Common Property, with the help of Home and Garden, decided to have our community professionally decorated. Although there was a brief issue with some of the lights because of water affecting the GFI boxes, thanks to Keith Green and his associate, Rick, the problem was quickly resolved. In addition to the lights, thanks goes out to Barbara Denman, Jill Cole, Cary Flynn, and Janet Daechsel for setting up the additional holiday displays.
FINAL NOTE:
Our committee welcomes any comments, or suggestions that you may have. It is quite possible that a problem will occur without our knowledge and therefore we need your input in order to remedy the situation. Please feel free to contact me.
