On Thursday, December 17th, Board Member Don Gibbens passed away. With his passing, Deercreek lost a genuinely good guy, a long-term resident, and a passionate supporter of the community who cared deeply about residents and the properties within Deercreek.
Don was elected to the Board three years ago with no previous Board or committee experience, making for a steep learning curve, especially for the Board work, let alone the Access Control Committee. With his passion and energy, Don worked diligently to learn and contributed significantly to both groups. While his health held him back in recent months, his interest and effort never wavered when he was able to participate, as was the case on December 16th. Don met with another Board member and the head of the Access Control Committee to discuss the transition as Don’s term on the Board was ending, and he was not seeking re-election. In the end, he was one of the most effective Board Liaisons the Access Control Committee has ever had.
The DCCOA offers its condolences to the Gibbens family. Don will be missed tremendously by the Board, the committee, and the whole community.
