HGC Celebrates Upcoming Holidays

Nov 25, 2024

Deercreek’s Home and Garden Club kicked off the upcoming holiday season with a Fall Harvest Party at the Deercreek Clubhouse that featured a seasonal menu, specialty drinks and laughter with fellow members. The Wednesday, November 20 event drew nearly 50 members from the Deercreek community.

The Clubhouse dining room was filled with decorative touches of autumn colors and beautiful floral centerpieces crafted by member Val Green. The evening began with a demonstration of folding napkins in festive shapes, taught by Kathy Sargent, DCC’s own Private Events director. Members enthusiastically tried the intricate patterns with the intent of reproducing them for their own holiday season festivities.

The party featured a custom cranberry Aperol spritz served in a special Thanksgiving glass, and a buffet for participants to build their own harvest bowl with fall greens, quinoa, root vegetables, and grilled salmon and chicken.

During the night, President Barbara Denman gave an update on the club’s accomplishments and activities from the past six months, many of which were ways the Home and Garden Club partnered with the HOA, DCC and Deercreek Women’s Alliance to enhance the community, beautify grounds, and celebrate life while living in the Creek.

As always when the club members get together, the highlight of the evening was time spent celebrating with friends and building new relationships within Deercreek. Member Mica Brown called the harvest party “a wonderful evening from the welcome cocktail to the decadent dessert. The balloon decor and the table centerpieces were beautiful. The napkin folding was fun and unique. Thank you Garden Club for a fabulous time!.”

At the end of the night, the floral centerpieces were raffled off to attendees, and also one was donated to the club to use in upcoming Thanksgiving dinners and activities. Attendees also departed with the special Thanksgiving glass to commemorate the evening.

The next event, sponsored jointly by the HGC and DCC, is Luminary Night at the clubhouse on Tuesday, December 3. The evening will feature food trucks, games and crafts for the kids and a competition of decorated golf carts. All Deercreek families and friends are invited.
