Stannye (pronounced Stanie) was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She moved to Jacksonville in 1992, due to an employment opportunity then relocated the following year to Columbia, South Carolina to accept a job in the banking industry. She met and married her husband, former Delta Airlines Captain and Top Gun Navy pilot, Dave Marble, in 1999. They returned to Jacksonville in 2007 and have lived in Deercreek for 17 years; along with their once Deercreek feral 15-year-old female cat, Buster.
In 2013, after starting three new divisions and spending 35 years in the financial industry, Stannye retired. Dave also recently retired from Delta Airlines and currently teaches full time at Jacksonville University’s Aviation School.
Stannye is very active in the Deercreek community, having served on both the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Communications Committee and for the past 16 years, as a member of the Fine Appeals Committee. Thank you for your community service, Stannye!
What brought you to Deercreek?
“After selling our house in South Florida in 2007, we needed a roof over our heads – fast! We looked at over 70 homes throughout Jacksonville, including Deercreek. At the time, only two homes were available for sale in Deercreek. Ultimately, we won the ensuing bidding battle and were able to purchase the home we liked best. We love living in Deercreek and are thankful for the close proximity it provides us to our grandchildren, Magdalene, age 6 and Eleanor, age 7. We pick them up every day after school and have lots of sleepovers. They are the light of our lives!
Favorite Deercreek memory:
“For many years, Dave and I, along with other long-term residents of Deercreek, spend Christmas Eve dinner at the home of our good friends and neighbors, Howard and Tina Sheffield. I have wonderful memories of sharing great food, libations and White Elephant exchanges with our dear friends.”
Hobbies and Special Interest:
“Around 9 years ago, a close friend introduced me to the Mosaic art form and I was instantly hooked. I especially like creating pieces that are considered ‘fine art’. Over the years I have attended numerous mosiac workshops around the country, as well as many online and ZOOM courses and I am a member of 6 different mosaic art groups around the world.”
In addition to making and creating mosaic art pieces for herself, her family and friends, Stannye also collects mosaic art created by accomplished artists from around the US and the UK. About 6 years ago, she converted the third stall of their garage into a mosaic studio. “As my schedule allows,” says Stannye, “I thoroughly enjoy working in my studio for hours at a time.”
Stannye and Dave are avid travelers and have visited over 20 countries, as well as numerous destinations throughout the US.
